Colombia Planadas undergoes the Sugarcane process, which reduces its caffeine content. The beans are first steamed under low pressure, then moistened with hot water. After hydration, the coffee is washed with ethyl acetate (EA), a solvent naturally derived from sugarcane fermentation. Once the desired caffeine level is reached, the beans are cleaned and dried to the appropriate moisture content.
