KONKRET BISCUIT is a whole-bean coffee blend created by the Polish roastery Hard Beans. The beans are roasted dark for espresso, making them perfect for espresso machines and moka pots. In the cup, you can expect notes of dark chocolate, walnuts, and sponge cake. Our Arabica comes from Brazil’s Cerrado region – one of the country’s most famous coffee-growing areas. The region offers ideal climatic conditions and fertile soils, known locally as terra roxa (“red earth”), which are particularly suited to cultivating varieties such as Mundo Novo, Yellow Catuai, and Red Catuai. The coffee trees grow mainly on flat terrain, which allows for mechanical harvesting.The Robusta is sourced from Vietnam, Indonesia, or Uganda. It provides a full-bodied, dense brew that combines bittersweet chocolate with nutty sweetness. This is where the fruit is depulped, fermented, and dried. The coffee cherries processed at Bulambuli are sourced from 200–400 local farmers. The high altitude of the area favors the production of high-quality coffees. The processing at Bulambuli is carried out by specialized staff who ensure precise and controlled conditions throughout the entire process.The region primarily grows the SL14, SL28, and SL34 varieties, which are also characteristic of Kenya. The cherries come from small family farms with an area of less than 1 hectare. These farms are located in parishes—local administrative communities consisting of 7 to 12 villages, often with as few as 200 inhabitants. Farmers typically work in groups led by a designated leader.The harvest of East Ugandan coffee takes place from August to January. In lower-lying areas, the season falls between August and October, while at higher altitudes, it lasts from September to January. Farmers sell their cherries at small collection points or deliver them directly to the washing station. There, the fruit is sorted and then—depending on the method—sent for depulping (washed process) or to the drying yard in Mbale (natural process).ROASTER'S OPINIONSurprisingly sweet, with notes of chocolate and almond, complemented by a light hint of forest and stone fruits. Operating at an altitude of 2,107 meters above sea level, it specializes in natural and anaerobic processing methods. Founded in 2017, the station has since become an important processing hub for local coffee producers.The station receives cherries from approximately 500 smallholder farmers, each cultivating coffee on plots of 1.5–2 hectares. Its location was chosen for the area’s high coffee production potential and its central position, which facilitates cherry deliveries from surrounding farms. Benti Nenka operates within active farming communities, supported by traditional systems of collective labor such as DEBO and DADO—forms of mutual aid in which farmers take turns working together.ROASTER’S OPINIONSweet, fruity, and floral, with a clearly defined acidity.
